Unlawfully Incarcerated Dr. Yasmin Rashid's Letter from Jail - 29 May 2025
Today it has been two years and 18 days that we are being held as prisoners at Kot Lakhpat Jail without any conviction. All human rights have been demolished systematically in front of us; our bails have been refused just to keep us incarcerated they are being used as a punishment against us. Our families have been running from pillar to post to find justice. I’ve personally written thrice to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, but to no avail. Ironically, a country which was made in the name of Islam is bereft of justice. Will the Chief Justice of Pakistan please reply if he believes that justice delayed is justice denied?
The election tribunal has delayed our petition for the last 15 months; the ECP is least bothered about it. All these atrocities have been committed to keep the Form 47 government secure. In their hearts, the N-League knows that they lost the election on 8th February 2024, yet they are shamelessly trumpeting about their competence.
The poverty index has gone up, and human rights are being violated right, left, and center. The police, who are responsible for law and order, are leaders in crime. An audit has exposed that Rs. 245.5 million worth of arms have disappeared from the police store in Punjab.
The health sector is in shambles. No medicines are available for patients. Health facilities are being outsourced as they cannot be governed properly, yet the mantra is “all is well.” The mother and child hospitals developed by Tehreek-e-Insaf to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality are being changed to general hospitals. These hospitals and health facilities are being named after the shallow, incompetent, narcissistic CM on her orders. The law of the jungle prevails.
It is an enigma that while Pakistan was being attacked by India, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter did not utter a word against Narendra Modi. I just want to know, are your business interests with India so important that you could not give a statement against the attacks, which resulted in the shahadatof more than 40 Pakistanis, including young children? A water war has been launched. Shame on you for this silence. Now you can keep on harping, but the people of Pakistan know the truth.
In the end, I can only pray for our nation. May Allah keep it safe from all harm.
Pakistan Zindabad
