High Wycombe - PTIs Tsunami of popularity reached the heights of High Wycombe mountains on Sunday 23rd of October when a local PTI chapter was launched in this hilly town of Buckinghamshire with a sizeable Pakistani community. The ceremony was held at Hilltop Community Centre, Crest Road, High Wycombe which, like all other PTI events in the South East, was another full house with over 300 people taking part. The gathering was addressed by PTI general secretary Dr Arif Alvi via video link up from Islamabad. With typical resilience and dedication, Dr Alvi gave a lively speech and patiently answered peoples questions into the early hours of the morning (Pakistan Time). Talking about partys popularity, Dr Alvi characteristically shared Javed Hashmi?s anecdote with the crowd - that when he is inside his house he does not see PTI anywhere but when he gets out of his house and goes anywhere in the country, he sees no other party but PTI. Answering questions from the participant, Dr Alvi explained the measures being taken to make sure that the forthcoming elections, which he termed as the most important in nations history, were fair and free. After the video link the chief guest Ch. Nasir Ahmed Chappar, a strong candidate for PTI from PP-115 Kharian, the mayor of High Wycombe Ch. Shafique and party office bearers from South East including the President for PTI South East region Mr. Asim Maqsood Basraa, Deputy Secretary International Afffairs Asad Mahmood along with various officials from the neighbouring regions addressed the participants. Mr. Basraa highlighted the fact that Buckinghamshire is a very important area for PTI South East due to fast paced membership enrolment from this area. Several prominent locals were also invited to the podium to say a few words on behalf of their community. Speakers unanimously emphasised the need to continue the dynamic drive for increased membership amongst the UK communities and to sustain the momentum of drumming up ever spreading support for PTI. Mr. Anwar Ul Haq, the head of the South East core committee and the powerhouse behind this successful event, thanked all the participants, sponsors and party workers for their support, dedication and hard work which were forthcoming. The local officials for PTI High Wycombe Chapter were also nominated and elected after the event. Mr. Nasir Shah and Mr. Qadeer Ahmed were jointly elected as Co-ordinators whereas Mr. Akram Khan, Kashif Abbasi, Adeel Shah and Omer Iqbal were elected as Deputy Co-ordinator, Finance Secretary, Information Secretary, and Secretary Business Forum, respectively. Additionally, an executive committee comprising of five members from local community were also elected. The proceedings of the Jalsah culminated in the typical PTI fashion with a resounding singing of the national anthem followed by a thunderous uproar of Pakistan Zindabad. The evening was rounded off with a delicious buffet dinner of traditional Pakistani dishes.
