17th June, 2012 - PTI East Midlands UK held a highly successful official launch of PTI chapter in Nottingham ? East Midlands. This was the culmination of tremendous hard work by the PTI members in Nottingham over the recent months to reactivate all of our old senior membership who were there on a very first day 16 years ago when PTI was launched in UK from Nottingham. Along with old members this event was launched as a drive for new membership amongst Pakistanis in East Midlands.
Nottingham has a large Pakistani heritage community, many of whom have now declared their open support for PTI (and Imran Khan) and see PTI as the only party who can truly serve Pakistan and its people. There were delegations from Leicester, Derby, Burton on Trent, Northampton and other far fledged areas of East Midlands.
The event was highly successful, attended by over 200 people from all backgrounds including the general community members (women and men), businessmen, professionals and politicians. Mr Ilyas Aziz, Mr Sohail Amjed, Mr Khalid Sharif, Mr M Ilyas, Mr Faiz, along with their teams and communities joined PTI and affirmed their support for Pakistan Tehreek Insaf.
Tilawat was done by Javed Iqbal Yousufzai, Chd Masood and Farzana Khan read their poetry specially written for the event, PTI videos and songs were played, crowd really participated in PTI slogans, particularly the one which read as ? Hum Sarey Khan key Haami hain, Sonaami hain Sonaami hain? , Pakistani Qomi tarana was played in the end and dinner was served to end the event.
The host for the evening was PTI Nottingham Team and the meeting was addressed by PTI Officials and elected representatives from across the UK . Mr Akram Dhareja (President PTI East Midlands), Mussadiq Khan (PTI Co-ordinator for Azad Kashmir), Irfan Butt (Membership Co-ordinator for West Midlands) Fazal Rabbi Khan (PTI Nottingham) , Ali Sher (Information Secretary, PTI SouthWest), Khwaja Shamsul Hassan (Information Secretary PTI North West), Amir Raana (General Secretary PTI SouthEast) , Barrister Anwar ul Haq (PTI Nottingham), Asad Mahmood (Insaf Research Wing Co-ordinator), Hassan Chaudhry (Youth Wing), Abdul Salam Muhmand (PTI East Midlands Information Secretary), Asim Khan (President PTI London), Nasrullah Khan (Finance Secretary PTI East Midlands). Mr Farhat Faheem Bhatti (Dep Sec International affairs for PTI) was guest of honour. They all emphasised the purpose and objectives of PTI which is to create a just, democratic and prosperous Pakistan which looks after, serves and strengthens the interests of all Pakistanis. They underlined the fact that PTI was an inclusive and democratic party which welcomes everyone who accepts its constitutional and democratic processes; and that all Pakistanis must play an active and positive role in determining the future of Pakistan.
The East Midlands UK PTI members expressed their thanks and congratulations to Nottingham team organising such a successful programme and are convinced that the committed Nottingham PTI members will play an energetic and a constructive role in promoting and strengthening the interests of PTI and Pakistan.
