
<p><a href="http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010719story_19-7-2010_pg13_3"><strong><i>Daily Times, Staff Report </i></strong></a><br /> <br /> LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has demanded mid-term elections in the country in the wake of the disqualification of a large number of parliamentarians.<br /> <br /> Addressing a press conference, Punjab PTI president Ahsan Rasheed said the party would boycott the by-election in PP-34 owing to the ???biased conduct??? of the chief election commissioner.<br /> <br /> He alleged that the Punjab government was spending money from the public exchequer to get its candidate elected. In this situation, he said, taking part in the election would be a futile exercise. <br /> <br /> The party would take part in mid-term elections only if the same was conducted under a neutral and independent election commission.<br /> <br /> It is to be noted that the PTI was among those political parties, which had boycotted the general elections in 2008.</p>
