PTI demands mid-term polls over fake degrees issue | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Daily Times, Staff Report

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has demanded mid-term elections in the country in the wake of the disqualification of a large number of parliamentarians.

Addressing a press conference, Punjab PTI president Ahsan Rasheed said the party would boycott the by-election in PP-34 owing to the ???biased conduct??? of the chief election commissioner.

He alleged that the Punjab government was spending money from the public exchequer to get its candidate elected. In this situation, he said, taking part in the election would be a futile exercise.

The party would take part in mid-term elections only if the same was conducted under a neutral and independent election commission.

It is to be noted that the PTI was among those political parties, which had boycotted the general elections in 2008.
