Letter from Fomrer Foriegn Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi Regarding the Current Pakistan - India War and Unprovoked Indian Aggression
Dear Pakistanis,
As I write this letter from the confines of Kot Lakhpat Jail, where I remain incarcerated in solitary confinement, my spirit remains unshaken and unwavering in loyalty to Pakistan. The events of the past few days have once again exposed the belligerence and aggression of India.
India, without evidence or justification, continues its unlawful and provocative actions under the guise of unsubstantiated claims. Pakistan has demonstrated maturity, restraint and moral clarity in the face of this hostility.
The press conference jointly addressed by the representatives of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy on Friday 9th May was a moment of national pride. The calm, dignified and factual manner in which our armed forces communicated the reality to the nation and the world earned respect at a global level. The clarity of purpose, coupled with professionalism and grace underscored Pakistan’s commitment to peace, sovereignty and self respect.
In our response to Indian escalatory actions, targeting military assets and ensuring no civilian harm, the world must see that Pakistani does not seek war, but will never shy away from defending its people, its soil and its honour.
In these decisive moments, all of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, its supporters and the citizens of Pakistan stood firmly like an iron wall, united behind our defenders. Pakistan first always.
I served as Foreign Minister when Pakistan faced similar trials- when Pulwama was exploited to manufacture a false flag narrative. I stood before the global community and defended Pakistans truth, dignity and rights. Today, I do the same, from behind bars, with the same resolve. I salute the brave men and women who continue to put their lives on the line for us all. I salute the people of Pakistan who despite economic hardships, political turmoil and global challenges, remain resolute, courageous and proud.
In times of adversity, true nations are tested- and true nations rise. Pakistan has once again shown the world that we are not weak, not divided and not afraid.
Pakistan and India have agreed to ceasefire and meet to discuss the way forward. I urge an internal political ceasefire to initiate a national dialogue on the existential challenges confronting Pakistan and putting our in house in order.
Long Live our People

میرے عزیز ہم وطنو
یہ خط، جو میں کوٹ لکھپت جیل کی قید تنہائی سے تحریر کر رہا ہوں، یہ لکھتے ہوئے میرا حوصلہ اور پاکستان سے میری وفاداری پہلے سے کہیں زیادہ مضبوط اور غیرمتزلزل ہے۔
چند دنوں کے واقعات نے ایک بار پھر بھارت کی جارحیت اور جنگی رویے کو بے نقاب کر دیا ہے۔
بھارت، بغیر کسی ثبوت اور جواز کے، بے بنیاد دعووں کے سائے میں اپنے غیر قانونی اور اشتعال انگیز اقدامات جاری رکھے ہوئے ہے۔ پاکستان نے بالغ نظری، صبر اور اخلاقی بالادستی کا مظاہرہ کیا ہے۔
جمعہ 9 مئی کو پاکستان آرمی، ایئر فورس اور نیوی کے نمائندوں کی مشترکہ پریس کانفرنس ایک ایسا لمحہ تھی جس پر ہر پاکستانی کو فخر ہونا چاہیے۔ جس وقار، متانت اور سچائی کے ساتھ ہماری مسلح افواج نے قوم اور دنیا کے سامنے حقائق رکھے، وہ قابلِ تحسین ہیں۔ ان کے انداز میں جو وضاحت، پیشہ ورانہ صلاحیت اور شائستگی تھی، اس نے یہ ثابت کر دیا کہ پاکستان امن کا خواہاں ہے، لیکن اپنی خودمختاری، عزت اور وقار پر کبھی سمجھوتہ نہیں کرے گا۔
بھارت کی جانب سے اشتعال انگیزی کے جواب میں پاکستان نے صرف فوجی اہداف کو نشانہ بنایا اور عام شہریوں کو کسی قسم کا نقصان نہیں پہنچایا۔ دنیا کو یہ پیغام واضح طور پر سمجھنا چاہیے کہ پاکستان جنگ نہیں چاہتا، لیکن اگر دفاع کا وقت آئے تو پیچھے ہٹنے کا سوال ہی پیدا نہیں ہوتا۔
ان نازک لمحات میں، پاکستان تحریکِ انصاف، اس کے کارکنان اور پوری قوم اپنی افواج کے پیچھے سیسہ پلائی دیوار بن کر کھڑی رہی۔ ہمیشہ پاکستان سب سے پہلے!
جب پلوامہ کا واقعہ پیش آیا اور بھارت نے ایک جھوٹے بیانیے کے ذریعے پاکستان کو بدنام کرنے کی کوشش کی، میں اُس وقت وزیرِ خارجہ تھا۔ میں نے دنیا کے سامنے پاکستان کا مقدمہ پوری جرأت اور سچائی کے ساتھ پیش کیا۔ آج، انہی اصولوں اور اسی حوصلے کے ساتھ، قید کی حالت میں بھی اپنے وطن کا دفاع کر رہا ہوں۔
میں ان بہادر سپاہیوں کو سلام پیش کرتا ہوں جو ہماری خاطر اپنی جانیں داؤ پر لگاتے ہیں، اور ان عوام کو سلام جنہوں نے معاشی مشکلات، سیاسی کشمکش اور عالمی دباؤ کے باوجود حوصلہ نہیں ہارا، ہمت نہیں چھوڑی، اور وقار کے ساتھ ڈٹے رہے۔
ایسے کٹھن وقت ہی قوموں کا اصل امتحان ہوتے ہیں، اور صرف زندہ قومیں ہی ان امتحانوں میں سرخرو ہوتی ہیں۔ پاکستان نے ایک بار پھر ثابت کیا ہے کہ ہم نہ کمزور ہیں، نہ بٹے ہوئے اور نہ ہی کسی سے خائف۔
اب جب کہ پاکستان اور بھارت جنگ بندی پر رضامند ہو چکے ہیں اور باہمی بات چیت پر آمادگی ظاہر کی گئی ہے، تو میری اپیل ہے کہ ہم اپنے ملک کے اندر بھی سیاسی جنگ بندی کریں، اور سنجیدہ قومی مکالمہ شروع کریں تاکہ پاکستان کو درپیش سنگین خطرات کا متحد ہو کر سامنا کیا جا سکے، اور ہم اپنے گھر کو درست سمت میں لے جا سکیں۔
