06-07-2012 ? London: Today the PTI London hosted an event in North London area. PTI Gen Sec Dr Arif Alvi and CVP Ejaz Chaudhry were the chief guests. The event also marked the formal inauguration of UK wide membership drive. PTI London event management team organised membership desk and online membership kiosks. The venue was attended by people from all walk of Pakistani community in the London and surrounding areas. Elected leadership from Southwest and Southeast was also present at the event. This event was third in an unprecedented series of events started in as many days. The event started with Quran recitation and Gen Sec PTI London delivered the opening statement. Local leadership including Mr Khalid Daar, Adil Lodhi, Labour Councillor Aslam Chaudhry and PTI human rights wing representative Mr Shahid Dastagir addressed the audience. Insaf Research Wing?s Asad Mahmood said in his speech that PTI is the first political party in Pakistan to provide an opportunity to every Pakistani to take part in the policy making process. Mr Mahmood informed the audience about the vital work IRW is doing to help shape the future policies of PTI. He was followed by PTI UK President Asim Khan who started his speech with poetry by PTI London?s member Farhad Iftikhar. Asim Khan in his address encouraged the audience to become paid members of the party. He said that PTI rely solely on the funds generated by its members and in current political climate of Pakistan it is vital for overseas community to help the movement in Pakistan. He also explained how the elected bodies all over UK are making small team in every area to conduct small event, corner meetings and fund raisers to help the movement in Pakistan. Crowd cheered with joy when Mr Ejaz Chowdhry came on the stage. Mr Chowdhry said that Pakistan is blessed with a lot of resources but the corrupt leadership in Pakistan has made the life of an ordinary person very difficult. He said that under Imran Khan?s leadership, PTI provided a golden opportunity to Pakistan people to revive the failing state and take ownership of their coutry. He also said that he believed that overseas Pakistanis feel closer to their motherland and are ready to help PTI whichever way they can. He finished his speech by calling every Pakistani to take steps to help the Tsunami against corrupt political mafia of Pakistan. Towards the end of the evening, Dr Arif Alvi finally came on the audience. The crowd gave him a warm welcome. Dr Alvi started his speech in his trademark light mannered way. The crowd started chanting PTI slogans when Dr Alvi said that when PTI will come to power, it will work to make Pakistan into a modern Islamic welfare state. He said that his dream was a country where no one will die due unavailability of food or medicine. He said PTI?s policies are geared towards resource mobilisation and providing opportunities to the underprivileged segment of the society. Dr Alvi said that the interparty elections in the PTI UK chapter has generated good results and that he was happy to see PTI teams in every major region working to gather support for the movement. He said that the minor problems faced by PTI UK will be resolved very soon. Dr Alvi shed light on PTI?s foreign and economic policies. He said that PTI will not take aid from other countries and will depend on its own resources and man power to tackle current problems. The atmosphere became emotional when he told the audience about the early days of the party and its phenomenal rise to main stream. He said that urge to fight against corruption and creating a just system for Pakistan was the main goal of the party since the day one. He said that in this time of desperation, Pakistani nation has found a messiah in Imran Khan; as Imran Khan is the only leader in Pakistan who has no corruption allegations and has a great track record of social service and creating successful institutions. He finished his speech by encouraging everyone to come out and work for their country. He thanked the PTI London?s elected body, event management and social media teams for their efforts to conduct a successful event.
