28th September 2023 News Headlines

A summary of today's important and breaking news regarding PTI and the country that the mainstream media of Pakistan will never show you.

  1. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been in illegal detention for 54 days now. Imran Khan was first detained in the Toshakhana case, and now he is being held unlawfully in the Cypher case. Imran Khan's lawyers had filed a petition against the FIR of the Cypher case in the Islamabad High Court, which was heard today. Chief Justice Amir Farooq accepted the amendment request but did not issue notices to the parties or announce the date for the next hearing. Imran Khan's lawyers' request for an early hearing was also rejected.
  2. The lawyers of Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, had filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court requesting permission to meet with him. Today, Chief Justice Amir Farooq, while delivering the verdict, directed the jail authorities to allow Imran Khan to meet with his lawyers in accordance with the law. Imran Khan, during the meeting with his lawyers, said, "I was fine in Attock Jail. They have provided only a 10-foot space for a walk. I don't want anything else, just the permission to walk and he was very serious today and said, “At the moment, I don't need cowards”. While expressing his concerns he said, “They will punish me in the Cypher case just like they did in the Toshakhana case."
  3. PTI leader Farrukh Habib, was abducted last night. Farrukh Habib has not been presented in any court so far. Farrukh Habib's only crime, after May 9, is not holding a press conference against Imran Khan. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf strongly condemns this unconstitutional act and demands to immediately present Farrukh Habib in court.
  4. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan was transferred from Attock to Adiala Jail after the order of Islamabad High Court, where, according to the law and court order, he was supposed to be kept in B-Class. However, the jail authorities shifted him back to C-Class within a day, where basic facilities are not available to him. This is a blatant violation of both judicial orders and human rights.
  5. While talking in the “The Daily Talk Show”, Secretary Information of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Raoof Hassan, said, "The Army Chief's visit to America is nothing new. In our past seventy years of history, it has been happening consistently that America deals with a single individual. I request from the influential circles to show mercy on their state. Nawaz Sharif will not return. The Sharif family has been thrown into the dustbin of history. The day Imran Khan is released from jail, you will see a complete transformation. After Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Imran Khan is the only leader in Pakistan's history. There has been no contact with us of any kind, and no deal is being made. Negotiations and deals are only possible on the basis of fair and transparent elections."
  6. The fascist era, which began after May 9, is still ongoing. Thousands of Imran Khan's supporters who are standing by him are currently arrested. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Khadija Shah, Aliya Hamza, Tayyaba Raja, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mian Mahmood-ur- Rasheed, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Haleem Adil Sheikh are among those who are arrested whereas Barrister Hassan Niazi, Sheikh Rasheed, Zahoor Mashwani, Usman Dar, Awais Younus, Abdul Kareem Khan, Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, along with others, are currently missing.
  7. Those who leave Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and form new parties are given the freedom to hold rallies and processions, but the largest party is not allowed to hold a worker's convention. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had planned to hold a workers' convention in Karak today, but the police had already surrounded the area from all sides. This is the worst example of fascism.
  8. Shahryar Afridi has been repeatedly taken into custody under MPO (Maintenance of Public Order), [despite repeated court orders to release him].  In the contempt of court case filed against the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Justice Babar Sattar rejected the plea for forgiveness and expressed his annoyance by saying, 'Are you approaching me through my relatives and friends? Should I send you another show cause notice?' The court, while rejecting the apology, said, 'You deserve this punishment!’”
  9. For K-Electric consumers, the electricity price has been increased from Rs. 1.48 to Rs. 4.45 per unit. According to the federal government's notification, consumers in Karachi will have to make additional payments in October and November. For consumers using up to 300 units, electricity is increased by Rs. 1.48 per unit, while for those using over 301 units, it has been increased by Rs. 3.21 per unit.
  10. In the fiscal year 2022-2023, Quetta Electric Supply incurred a loss of Rs. 76 billion. Similarly, in the fiscal year 2022, Pakistan Railways incurred a loss of Rs. 48 billion, while National Highway Authority incurred a loss of Rs. 45 billion. These losses are being covered by sucking the blood of the poor.
