13th September 2023 News Headlines

A summary of today's important and breaking news regarding PTI and the country that the mainstream media of Pakistan will never show you.

  1. President Dr. Arif Alvi, wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner, Sikandar Sultan Raja and stated that according to Article 48(5), the general elections for the National Assembly should be held on the 89th day of the dissolution of the assembly, which would be Monday, November 6, 2023. Previously, Imran Khan had demanded elections within ninety days according to the constitution. Imran Khan's lawyer, Ali Aijaz Battar, mentioned, "During our meeting, Imran Khan kept the book of the Constitution of Pakistan in front and said that in upholding the Constitution of Pakistan, the President should announce the date of the elections in accordance with Article 48(5), and the elections should take place within 90 days, so that the country can uphold the constitutional and enable true democracy to come in for which,  I too, am sacrificing."
  2. The Cypher case was heard in Attock Jail today where former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been unlawfully detained for the past 39 days. The hearing against the Cypher case within the jail premises was objected by Imran Khan's lawyers, and a request has already been filed in the Islamabad High Court. The decision was reserved on it, and due to the delay in announcing the decision, the hearing took place inside the jail again, which is a clear violation of human rights and the Constitution. The presiding special judge, Zulqarnain Abul-Hasnsat, has granted a 14-day judicial remand for Imran Khan once again. Regarding the request for bail, he stated that he will definitely conduct a hearing tomorrow.
  3. The Election Commission, using the pretext of inter-party elections, had revoked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s electoral symbol of the bat. Against this, Tehreek-e-Insaf’s lawyer, Barrister Gohar, filed a case, and today, won the case against the Election Commission. The party has regained its electoral symbol of the bat.
  4. While speaking on “The Daily Talk Show”, guest Rehan Zeb Khan said, "Peace prevailed in tribal areas only during Imran Khan's 43-month government. When I was arrested, they forced me to stop supporting Imran Khan calling him a traitor! “If Imran Khan is a traitor, then we are all traitors! If there's anyone better than Imran Khan, who has the solution to this country's problems, then let us know, we will vote for them. But the reality is that Imran Khan is the only national leader of this country. Only a national leader can resolve these issues for Pakistan.  More than that, I can't say because my parents are old, and I have received enough threats before."
  5. Former Foreign Minister and Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, was presented in the special court for the Cypher case today where he was given a further 14-day judicial remand. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while talking to the media, said, "In jail, the gallows are right next to my barrack. If I have betrayed my country, I should be hanged, I am not a criminal, I am a political prisoner. With courage and bravery, we will endure everything.”
  6. Former MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Aftab Jahangir’s house last night was attacked by the police. The family was manhandled, the house was vandalized, and threats were given to the women. Everyone who does not leave Imran Khan is being targeted with the worst form of persecution.
  7. The era of Hitler is considered the worst in terms of persecution when even children and women were not spared. Walking in his footsteps, even today in Pakistan, children and women are not being spared. An example of this is Mian Ibad Farooq's innocent son who, due to political pressure, none of the hospitals are willing to admit. The hospital administration even refused to provide Ammar Ibad with a ventilator.
  8. Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, was abducted from Islamabad thirteen days ago and has not been presented in any court so far. Today, a hearing was held against his abduction in the Islamabad High Court. Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri remarked, 'How is it possible for someone to be lifted from the Red Zone Parliament lodges? Hasn’t the inquiry been complete yet? The person has been missing for thirteen days, and nobody knows anything. Without any case being filed, the person is picked up.  At least, [be a little realistic] put some charges against him.  Islamabad is the capital city. There are CCTV cameras, there are agencies, what image are we creating? A person is moved from one case and placed in another. This is no way to handle things.' The hearing has been postponed until September 26th.
  9. After the arrest of Chairman Imran Khan, American and British High Commissioners are showing a lot of activity. First, the American Ambassador met with the Chief Election Commissioner, and today the British High Commissioner had a crucial meeting with him. On the other hand, the American ambassador is holding important meetings in Gwadar.  These meetings are entirely against diplomatic norms, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has also expressed concern over them.
  10. PDM’s destruction is having day by day an increasingly deepening effects on the national economy. For example, during July to August, remittances from Saudi Arabia decreased by 23% to a 97 crore 70 lakh dollar which was 1 Arab 26 crore dollars recorded during the same period last year. Remittances from Britain and America after respective reductions of 18% and 17% are at 63 crore 80 lakh dollars and 50 crore 37 lakh dollars respectively. The significant reduction in remittances is a clear expression of the Overseas Pakistanis' lack of confidence in the current political and economic policies.
  11. The PTI government had initiated projects for cheap electricity. For example, the Diamer Bhasha Dam of 6000 megawatts, Dasu Dam of 4300 megawatts, Mohmand Dam of 800 megawatts, Kohala Dam of 1150 megawatts, and Karot Power House of 720 megawatts. If these projects had been started in the 1990s, the country would not be suffering from this current economic crisis.
  12. After destructively ruling for 16 months, Shehbaz Sharif, the claimant of providing flour to the public by selling his clothes, has made the ordinary man helpless in even buying flour for himself. The price of flour per kilogram has reached 170 rupees, and the price of 40kg is 5200 rupees. This is the highest price of flour and wheat in the country's history.
  13. Despite the government's so-called crackdown, the public has not received relief in the price of sugar. The price of sugar per kilogram is still 180 to 185 rupees. The common man is being deprived of daily necessities such as flour, sugar, lentils, etc.
