PTI Wales proudly organised its very first PTI Mela in Swansea on the 23rd March 2012. This was supported by Medina Dairy, Exotica Foods and members of the Swansea PTI Team. It was especially encouraging to see all members of the community together from children, to families, the youth and the elderly, including people from far afield areas such as Cardiff, Llanelli, Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea. The aim of the event was to inform and increase awareness of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) amongst the Pakistani community. The event was also used as a platform to encourage Pakistanis to support the PTI in Wales. There were a variety of interesting activities such as arts, crafts, henna, face painting. A number of stalls were available including a PTI Membership stall, Namal College, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital. Starting with the recitation of the Holy Quran, the Chair of PTI Swansea Khalil Khan welcomed everyone to the event, followed shortly by everyone enthusiastically singing the Pakistani National Anthem. A competitive streak was aroused as Siddiqua Ahmed facilitated a quiz competition. Aisha Iftikhar talked about the role of the women in politics. Riaz Hassan, PTI Wales Country Coordinator ??? Membership, thanked everyone for attending the event and then explained the mission of PTI in Wales and the steps taken so far. He also highlighted the current situation in Pakistan and the new change which will InshAllah be brought about by PTI, under the honest and dedicated leadership of Imran Khan. In his special address, Riaz Hassan said ???I believe that you (Pakistani people) are the most important asset for the party, and therefore, your active help and contribution towards PTI will greatly assist us in the forthcoming election in Pakistan, which is the most important one for the country???. In his key address he encouraged everyone to become paid/unpaid PTI members and an active supporter of the party, and he also informed oversees Pakistanis that they can now vote as long as they have valid Pakistani ID card. Finally, Riaz thanked all the community for their support and especially thanked the members of Swansea PTI for all their hard work and commitment over the past couple of weeks. <
