Aliya Hamza Malik | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf
Core Member

Aliya Hamza Malik is a core member of PTI who served as a Member of the National Assembly after being elected as a candidate of PTI on a reserved seat for women from Punjab in 2018. She is a Textile Engineer and a Gold Medalist. On 27 September 2018, Imran Khan appointed her as Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Commerce, Textiles, Industries and Production, and BOI, making her the only female MNA with this diverse and extensive portfolio as Parliamentary Secretary. On 17 January 2023, Aliya Hamza Malik resigned from the National Assembly in favor of Imran Khan.

She was in jail for over a year after she was unlawfully arrested on May 11, 2023, in a fabricated case related to the May 9 protests and has been in jail since then. Although the courts would release her in one case, the state would immediately charge her with another baseless and fabricated offense which resulted in her unlawful rearrest outside the court. She has been released multiple times since April 11, 2023.

She was abducted from her home, manhandled, and dragged in front of her young daughters. Her ordeal began on the evening of May 10, 2023, a day after the protests, as the government launched an unprecedented crackdown on PTI. She was at home with her family in Lahore when she heard a sudden and persistent pounding on her front door. Nearly a dozen police officers, some in plain clothes, broke down the door and barged in, waving guns and sticks. For the next ten minutes, the all-male contingent ransacked the home, shattering mirrors, and breaking cabinets and TV sets. Their phones, laptops, and even AirPods were seized, with the raid ending with Aliya’s arrest, all without an arrest or search warrant.

“They basically abducted her, with guns pointed at our three teenage daughters and my mother,” Aliya Hamza’a husband said, adding that no male member of the family was present at the time.

“If this can happen to a high-profile ex-parliamentarian, then imagine what a common man with little resources must be going through.”

Aliya ran as a PTI candidate in the 2024 general election for Constituency NA-118 Lahore-II and was successful according to the original Forms 45. However, as with many other PTI candidates, the seat was rigged and given to Hamza Shehbaz Sharif of PMLN. In March 2024, she challenged Hamza's victory notification through an election petition.

To this day, she stands firmly in her support for Imran Khan. Her appearances and statements from the prison van repeatedly emphasize her unwavering stance with Imran Khan and Pakistan, refusing to bow down to oppressors. The authorities have charged her in multiple fake cases across the country, which is absurd, as it is humanly impossible for her to be present in multiple cities at one time, highlighting the absurdity of these charges.

She has been kept in the worst conditions during her unlawful detention, where she fell ill multiple times and was denied medical help. To break her resolve, she has been locked up in the prison van parked outside courts for hours without any fans or ventilation. Despite these barbaric acts by the state, she has shown phenomenal courage and resilience.
