Former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is a senior politician who served as the 18th Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2 March 2024 until his resignation on 8 October 2025. He has been elected a Member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for the second time in the 2024 elections. He is a senior member of PTI as he has been a party member for over a decade. He is also the former President of PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkwa until early 2025. As Chief Minister, he followed Imran Khan's vision for the restoration and expansion of the Sehat Insaf Card, oversaw the KP Solar Scheme, Ehsaas Naujawan and Hunar programs, Ekhtyar Awam Ka portal and construction projects. 

Education and Family

Ali Amin Gandapur belongs to a politically active Gandapur tribe of Pashtuns from Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan, his late father Major (retd) Aminullah Gandapur having served as a caretaker cabinet member under Pervez Musharraf. His brother Sardar Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur is also a politician. He completed his early education at Saint Helen's High School, Dera Ismail Khan. Due to his keen interest in sports as a squash player, he shifted to Peshawar and matriculated from the Police Model School. He later received his Bacherlor's Degree from the Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan.

Early Politics and Campaign

Ali Amin Gandapur joined PTI in 2008 and assisted in the party's campaigns and press conferences. He assisted Imran Khan in the 2014 Azadi March. He earlier got elected a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in 2013 elections from the platform of PTI and was appointed as Minister for Revenue & Estate under PTI's first administration 2013-18. In 2018 General Elections he was elected as a Member of the National Assembly from the platform of PTI and served as as the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan from 5 October 2018 to 10 April 2022, concurrently serving as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till January 2023. In his electoral history, he contested his first election in 2013, winning in PK-94 Dera Ismail Khan, he would win again later on in 2018. He contested 2 seats, PK-97 Dera Ismail Khan City 1, and NA-38, winning both seats. In 2024, he was elected again to a seat in the Provincial Assembly, winning in PK-113 Dera Ismail Khan.

He took office as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in early March 2024 on Imran Khan's ticket after PTI won an unprecedented 2/3 majority in the province despite rigging against PTI. During his tenure as Chief Minister, his government took several initiatives including the restoration of the Sehat Insaf Card within the first 10 days of being elected, doubling the card's coverage from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, inclusion of OPD services and a life insurance scheme giving compensation of between Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1,000,000 to the heirs of deceased family heads. He also oversaw welfare schemes for youth such as Ehsaas Naujawan, Ehsaas Rozgar and Ehsaas Hunar Programs and digitization efforts. The government, under Gandapur, initiated Drug Free Peshawar, a drug crackdown in which 2,400 drug addicts were succesfully rehabilitated. Gandapur also oversaw the completion of various construction projects including Rescue 1122 stations, police stations, over 56 small dams, overseeing a Girls Cadet College and many more. He also approved a Rs. 3 billion endowment sent to 550,000 girls to promote female education. Gandapur supported bringing more governmental focus to merged tribal districts and began the Billion Tree Plus Project, KP Solar Scheme, a Qu'ran distribution center in Peshawar, Taleem Card, land purchase for the Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway. On Imran Khan's orders, he tendered his resignation on 8 October 2025 and was suceeded by Sohail Afridi as Chief Minister.
