2nd October 2023 News Headlines

A summary of today's important and breaking news regarding PTI and the country that the mainstream media of Pakistan will never show you.

  1. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's illegal detention has reached 58 days now. Imran Khan, who was first held in Attock and now in Adiala Jail, is only being detained to remove him from the political scenario. Under this plan, bail in 9 of Imran Khan's cases had been rejected, against which Imran Khan's lawyers had filed an application. The Islamabad High Court, while accepting this application today, has reinstated the bail and sent it back to the lower courts. On the other hand, the Cipher case has again been subjected to delay by Chief Justice Amir Farooq.
  2. On one hand, Chief Justice Amir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court is holding the bail in the cipher case and the judge's eligibility cases in abeyance. On the other hand, Special Court Judge Zulqarnain Abul Hasnaat has decided to proceed with the cipher case in the same manner as the Toshakhana case from October 4th. The judge, while issuing a notice to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, has directed Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi to appear before the Islamabad Judicial Complex on October 4th.
  3. Islamabad's Sessions Court had ordered Chairman Imran Khan to appear today in the marriage case, but the authorities of Adiala Jail, once again, refused to produce Chairman Imran Khan. Chairman Imran Khan's lawyers assert that this is a blatant contempt of court and is being done explicitly due to fear of not letting the public see the picture of Imran Khan. The court has postponed the hearing until October 12th.
  4. Bushra Bibi has approached the Islamabad High Court through lawyer Latif Khosa for Imran Khan's security and protection in jail. In the request, it is stated that there is fear that Imran Khan may be poisoned through his meals in jail. Permission to have home-cooked meals has not been granted. In the past, such facilities were provided to prisoners. Imran Khan is not being provided with the facilities according to the jail manual and judicial orders, which is a violation of Article 9 and 14 of the Constitution.
  5. Imran Khan's ally and former federal minister Sheikh Rashid was abducted from his home a few days ago and has not been produced in any court yet. Sheikh Rashid's lawyers filed an application against his abduction, which was heard today. The court remarked, "If Sheikh Rashid is not found by next week, cases will be filed against SSP Operations, DSP, and 4 SHOs for his arrest." The hearing has been adjourned for one week.
  6. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Farrukh Habib was abducted by security forces from Gwadar a few days ago and has not been produced in any court yet. Farrukh Habib's brother has filed an application in court against it, which was heard today. The court directed the IG Punjab to gather complete information about Farrukh Habib within four days and scheduled the next hearing for four days later.
  7. Before the return of fugitive criminal Nawaz Sharif from London, the PMLN attempted to hold a rally in a narrow street in Lahore yesterday. Despite having all state resources, the public refused to participate. During Maryam Nawaz's venomous speech, more than half of the street remained empty. Fugitive criminal Nawaz Sharif expressed disappointment today. Some people present at the PMLN gathering also chanted slogans in favour of Imran Khan, claiming they came here to chant slogans in support of Imran Khan and to expose these thieves [referring to PMLN].
  8. President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has submitted an application to the Peshawar High Court for permission to hold rallies and processions in the province. Conducting rallies is the constitutional right of every political party, but the non-constitutional caretaker government is persistently denying Tehreek-e-Insaf permission for rallies.
  9. Despite the death of Mian Ibad Farooq's son, police brutality is not stopping. Mian Ibad Farooq's brother stated in his video message, "People are still coming to our house for Ammar, our wounds are not even healed, and you have come to remove the transformer. Do you want us to leave PTI? We will not leave PTI."
  10. Senior journalist Adnan Adil stated in his tweet, "In the current fiscal year (2023-24), subsidies of 1064 billion rupees and grants of 1400 billion rupees for various institutions and departments have been included in the budget. This means that 2464 billion rupees will be collected from the poor people through taxes on petrol, diesel, ghee, sugar, and electricity in order to spend on ‘some special people’.”
  11. Current figures and statistics indicate that the growth rate will remain negative in the current fiscal year, and the unemployment rate may rise from 10% to as high as 13%. Imran Khan had managed to bring this growth rate up to 6% in the past, but the PDM government has destroyed all of Imran Khan's economic efforts in the past 16 months.
