The birth of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) was more mocked at than celebrated. A legendary Pakistani cricketer who captained the Pakistani team on its way to world championship; Imran Khan announced his entry into politics. Conventional politicians did not take Khan or his party seriously and he was either ignored or ridiculed for having notions and ideas that were far from the realities of Pakistan’s messed up political culture.

“We’re gonna have a more transactional relationship…I’ll leave it up to the experts to decide if we should escalate [military action against Pakistan].” That’s US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham in 2011 as he advocates US military action inside the sovereign territory of Pakistan.

5 month's into administration, is the jury still out on IK and PTI? 

Or are we witnessing a sad meltdown not just of governance but of the hopes of the millions who voted for the Khan?

Are we witnessing the tragic spectacle of a group of inept and inexperienced novices, at sea on how to administer this complex country called Pakistan?

Are we seeing the growing footprint of an establishment silently trying to plug this lack of capacity and capability in governance?
