The Kalasha people celebrate Uchaw festival as harvesting and bringing the cheese down from the higher pastures by the shepherds.
The Kalasha people celebrate the festival in the month of July as “Rat Nat” night dance, as rituals and practice for the final day of Uchaw.
The cheese which is brought down from the pastures will be taken to the Alters and offer as thanksgiving for good livestock and harvest of crops and fruits.
This festival is celebrated on the 22nd of August each year. It takes place at daytime in Rumbor valleys and night time at Bumburet valley which lasts until morning.
Lots of local and international tourists are moving towards the Kalash valleys to witness this spectacular event which is celebrated by the Kalash people for centuries.
