PTI Press Release – Fabricated Cipher Case to Politically Victimize Imran Khan

• Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has put forward its position about the cipher case:
• The cipher case is fabricated and baseless. It is merely a means to politically victimize former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
• Former Foreign Minister and Vice Chairman of the party, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, is being targeted for continuing to stand with Imran Khan.
• All cases against Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi are politically motivated.
• The former Prime Minister had called for an independent high-level inquiry about the cipher but that was deliberately avoided.
• The cipher was declassified by the cabinet and sent to the Chief Justice of Pakistan by the then acting Speaker of the National Assembly on April 12th.
• Responding to Imran Khan's letter of April 29th, the President of Pakistan recommended to the Chief Justice that the cipher be investigated.
• The case against the Chairman and Vice Chairman was hastily registered 17 months later.
• A shameful attempt is being made to implicate Imran Khan by preparing state witnesses through abduction, oppression, and the unbridled use of state power.
• Previously, Imran Khan was victimized through one of the worst trials in history in the tosha khana (government gift depository) case.
• The ill intentions of the state are apparent from proceedings in the cipher case that have taken place thus far.
