<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="96%" align="center" border="0"> <tbody> <tr bgcolor="#f4faff"> <td class="small_txt" height="20"><strong>Pakistan paying heavy price in anti-terror war: Imran</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td><img height="5" src="" width="1" alt="" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#efefef"><img height="1" src="" width="1" alt="" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><img height="5" src="" width="1" alt="" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="small_txt">Saturday, March 28, 2009<br /> Our correspondent<br /> <br /> Islamabad<br /> <br /> Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Friday called upon US President Barack Obama to consider other options instead of use of force to deal with militancy and terrorism. <br /> <br /> Talking to a PTI delegation from NWFP, headed by its provincial Vice-President Iqbal Afridi, he said that Pakistan too was paying a heavy price for its role in the war against terrorism. <br /> <br /> The PTI chairman condemned the Jamrud mosque terrorist attack and said that a Muslim could not commit such a heinous crime against humanity.<br /> <br /> ìClearly this terrorist act has all the signs of an external hand attempting to create rift among Pakistanis and further instability within the Pakistani state,î he said. <br /> <br /> The timing of the Jamrud terror attack, he pointed out, was also interesting, as it happened in the wake of Obamaís revised strategy for this region, which might include increasing military action and expanding the target area of drone attacks.<br /> <br /> The PTI chairman claimed that other parties were unhappy over the growing popularity of PTI for it always had an unambiguous stand on key national and international matters. ìWe raise an issue and then other parties talk on it,î he argued.<br /> <br /> About the recent long march, Imran said that they had faced the worst excesses and his arrest warrants were also issued, as we never compromise on issues. The public has fully understood our manifesto.<br /> <br /> He claimed that people in large number continued to join his party just because of its clarity on key issues.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, PTI Spokesperson Dr Shireen Mazari, in a statement, strongly condemned the killing of local journalist Assad Hameed and said this murder in the cantonment of Rawalpindi reflected the general anarchy that was spreading across the country and the governmentís inability to provide even the minimal level of security to its citizens.</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p><a href=""></a></p>
