A summary of today's important and breaking news regarding PTI and the country that the mainstream media of Pakistan will never show you.
The government becomes both the prosecutor and the defense. What a joke!
Today, Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed their skepticism regarding the government-appointed lawyers in the cipher case, as assigned by Judge Abul Hasnat.
At a certain point, Shah Mehmood Qureshi tossed the case file towards the lawyers, remarking, "How can we trust lawyers we don't even know? We've never seen them before. Will they truly defend us?" It reflects the stance of both Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Imran Khan.
Imran Khan further commented on his assigned defence lawyer, expressing doubt about understanding the lawyer's statement, "I don't trust him. What can he do for me?" He emphasized that the current proceedings go against the principles of a transparent trial, asserting that such a trial has never occurred in the history of Pakistan. The irony lies in the fact that both the prosecution and defense lawyers have been appointed by the government, raising questions about the credibility of the entire process. Is this some kind of a joke?
Imran Khan's conversation with journalists in Adiala Jail.
"Nawaz Sharif is optimistic about winning the election, even though he remains in hiding and continues to receive repeated reprieves. In contrast, I have spent six months in jail, facing a crackdown on my party with our rights being systematically stripped away.
Imran Khan went on to mention that Najam Sethi had suggested yesterday that a verdict on the cipher case should be delivered by February 5. Imran Khan interprets Sethi's statement as implying match-fixing. In response to a journalist's question about lawyers not appearing and seeking adjournments for witness cross-examinations, Imran Khan explained, "Many of our lawyers are currently engaged in the election campaign. With numerous cases on hand, it's challenging for them to appear at every instance."
He underscored the impact of the ongoing severe crackdown, emphasizing that the fundamental right of people to live freely is under threat. Imran Khan expressed concern that basic human rights are being violated in the country. Despite having a petition related to human rights pending in the Supreme Court, it has yet to be heard."
In the cipher case, Judge Abu Al-Hasnat hastily appoints defense lawyers.
Just a day after the absence of lawyers representing Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the special court for the Cipher Case and Official Secrets Act automatically assigned government lawyers to represent the accused. An email received by the Advocate General Islamabad yesterday contained the appointed names for Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi. This unique event is particularly noteworthy as the case involves the possibility of the death penalty. The swift proceedings and the apparent haste of the court are surprising.
Here are the details: Imran Khan's lawyers arrived at the jail court at noon, only to discover that the judge had already postponed the case and left. Subsequently, the same lawyers waited in the jail court from twelve to two o'clock. If we consider the court's regular schedule, it resumes at half past three. The court's time should be taken into account, especially when making significant decisions. It appears that much like Judge Dilawar, Judge Abul Hasnat is in a rush to pass a verdict.
Supreme Court writes that participation of the people in elections is essential.
Drafting the decision in the case permitting Parvez Elahi to run in the election, the prospective Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah emphasized the imperative of enabling candidates and the public to engage freely in the electoral process for the sake of transparency. The ability of candidates to disseminate their message and the freedom of people to cast their votes are crucial components. Regrettably, there is a prevailing reversal of these principles throughout the country, with the judiciary's decisions being openly ridiculed.

If the Punjab Police continues to harass PTI workers, supporters, and candidates in NA 89 Mianwali without any action, a writ will be filed in the Lahore High Court within the next two days against DPO Mianwali and RPO Sargodha.
