
Junaid Akbar is a core member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, serving as the Provincial President of PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Hailing from Malakand, he has represented PTI as a party in various forums, positions, and services. His role in politics started in 2013, and since then has been dedicated and committed to the party and Imran Khan's vision.
Akbar contested the 2013 general elections from a PTI ticket from NA-35 Malakand, recieving 51,312 votes and winning the seat. Junaid Akbar thrice won the support of his Malakand constitency after recieving 81,310 votes for PTI from NA-8 Malakand in 2018 and again in 2024 after recieving 113,545 votes in NA-9 Malakand for PTI. Thrice serving as a Member of the National Assembly after winning the seat in every single election for PTI has marked a strong support by the public of his constituency. Akbar endured crackdown and struggle after being jailed in 2023 and put in poor conditions by authorities in an attempt to crackdown on PTI. Despite this predicament, Junaid Akbar has strongly represented PTI and Imran Khan's struggle in the National Assembly of Pakistan in 2024, as well as in the election campaign amidst crackdown.
His services to the party allowed him to ascend to the position of the party's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial presidency in January 2025, after his appointment by Chairman Imran Khan. On 25 January 2025, Junaid Akbar was elected the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, to which he expressed his gradtitude to Imran Khan.
