The Aftermath Of The Match - Insaf Blog | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

On the radiant day of February 8, 2024, despite numerous challenges, the citizens of Pakistan exercised their right to vote, overcoming substantial obstacles and dedicating their time with fervor to usher in a new era, a fresh hope, and fulfill their commitment to their leader, Mr. Imran Khan Niazi, reassuring him that he is not alone; they stand united with him.

The day unfolded slowly, marked by a noteworthy absence of physical confrontations and reported harm. As evening descended, optimism soared with the selection of independent candidates, despite significant differences in votes, highlighting the people’s desire for change. However something amidst the peaceful celebrations, abruptly halting the broadcasting of election results. The events during those 15 hours remain known only to God, His angels, and the angels of Pakistan involved. But whatever happened, proved the patience of the peaceful protestors who were labeled as “terrorist” after 9th May incident.

Morning brought the disheartening news of prominent candidates such as Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mr. Raja Basharat, Semabia Satti, Ayaz Amir, and Zartaj Gul facing defeat—a surprising turn from triumph to setback. Yet, the term ‘defeat’ finds no place in Mr. Khan’s lexicon. These elections not only exposed prevailing injustice in Pakistan but also unveiled various other critical issues. The peaceful yet resilient nature of the Pakistani people stood out as they exercised their right to vote, displaying unwavering solidarity for their fundamental rights—rights to choose their leaders, openly discuss health, education, employment, and civil concerns, and demand protection and support after contributing substantial amounts in taxes. Those labeled as terrorists are, in reality, activists fighting for basic human rights.

February 8 affirmed the peace upheld by independent candidates, enduring injustice with patience while awaiting court intervention to advocate for justice. The day underscored that the Pakistani populace is no longer an easily deceived, illiterate nation. Playing the political match without their captain, they displayed excellent fielding despite challenges, bringing the match to a level where rigging became inevitable to conceal the truth.

As a nation, we possess the potential for much more. This was merely a glimpse of our capabilities. We seek our rightful due and support from the government. In conclusion, I express hope that our rights are respected, and the incarcerated youth are granted bail, given the opportunity to lead normal lives as proud Pakistanis, not as prisoners of war.
