In an Eid Milan Lunch, PTI Canada raised another $27,690 for the flood relief efforts in Pakistan

 

Sunday – September 12, 2010 PTI Canada arranged a fund rising “EID MILAN LUNCH” in Brampton, Ontario to provided assistance to the flood affectees in Pakistan.

 

Over 250 Canadians of Pakistani origin attended the event and donated generously summing up a total amount of $27,690.

 

The event was a huge success to generate the funds to help flood affectees, Chairman Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf; Mr. Imran Khan also addressed the gathering over the telephone.

 

The chief guest of the event was Ms. Fauzia Kasuri, President Pakistan Tehrek-e- Insaf Women Wing.

 

Mrs Kasuri delivered an emotional speech to inform the attendees about the disastrous situation in Pakistan. She also highlighted the effort of PTI volunteers in Pakistan and how the supplies are provided to the affected families.

 

 In addition to fund raising, a chapter of PTI Canada for Women Wing was also launched.  Mrs Shaheen Rizwan was announced as a Coordinator for PTI Canada – Women Wing. Mrs. Rizwan had worked hard to raise funds and donations for the flood relief efforts.

 

“Certificate of Appreciation” were also given to the children, who had worked hard to collect funds and goods donations. A group student prepared an hour long documentary on Flood in Pakistan; this video was played on a big screen throughout the event to show the real picture of the disaster.

 

A special guest, Mr. Imran Ali – Deputy Consul General of Pakistan’s Consulate in Toronto also attended the event. He Thanked PTI Canada for its efforts and endorsed PTI and Imran Khan Foundation as a credible organization.

 

Ms. Rubi Dhalla, Member of Canadian Parliament from Brampton region attended the event to support the cause and announced that the deadline date of Canadian Government’s Offer to match “Dollar for Dollar” towards the flood relief donation has been extended to October 03, 2010.

 

Shabbir Chaudary, Coordinator PTI Canada announced that the entire amount of Donations Collected will be forwarded to Pakistan for the flood relief efforts and any cost to arrange events will be paid by the coordinators of Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf Canada.

 

Rawal TV, biggest Pakistani Canadian TV Channel provided an exclusive coverage of the event and also broadcasted TV ads of the event free of any cost. Their dedication towards the success of this event was acknowledged by every member of PTI Canada.
