| Friday, March 16, 2007 | | Roots of the Muslim dilemma
| By Salman Shuaib | 1642 Views | | Opinion Articles, Pakistan, International, Socio-economic issues, Religion | In order to understand the dilemmas faced by Muslims today, one has to rediscover the past and examine those processes which led to the disappearance of the world of Saadi and Rumi. | By AZUBAIR | 2335 Views | | News, Opinion Articles, Pakistan, International, Socio-economic issues, Religion | | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan has said that the West suffers from a narrow understanding of Islamic Shariah. Adding on to Mr. Khan’s comments, the Information Secretary - PTI Toronto, Ms. Ayesha Zuabir said that Shariah is more than supposed Jihad, Penal Code, and cutting the hands of a delinquent. Islam, she said that, is an all-encompassing way of life, and Shariah seeks to strike harmony between the spiritual and material well being of people. She said that the world has experienced the ideological battle between socialism and capitalism that cost millions their lives. Socialism failed, yet, even unchecked capitalism, has failed to put forth a vision of hope for humanity. She added that the West and even the Muslim world itself have failed to see that there is an alternative – a welfare Islamic system of governance, and it is PTI’s goal to make Pakistan one such state. | | Read
