PRESS RELEASE
Imran Khan meets Chinese leadership On the first day of his two-day visit to China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), PTI leader Imran Khan had meetings with the leaders of the CPC, including H E Ismail Tiliwaldi, Vice Chairman, Standing Committee of the National People's Congress; H E Wang Jiarul, Minister International Department, CPC and Ai Ping Vice Minister of the same department. Imran Khan thanked the CPC for inviting his delegation and explained how the people of Pakistan always saw China as an "all-weather friend" despite very little people-to-people contacts. People have a lot of respect and love for China, Imran declared, which was evident when he was greeted with huge applause from the people at his rally when he declared he was leaving for China on an official visit after the rally. The CPC leaders explained the way in which the Party functions. They also explained how the peaceful rise of China at an unprecedented speed was made possible as a result of adopting "socialism with Chinese face". That is seeking truth from facts rather than merely through classical M-L ideology. The philosophy of democratic centralisation was discussed. Imran Khan said Pakistan and especially PTI had a lot to learn from the Chinese experience on many fronts including poverty alleviation, anti corruption measures and accountability of officials and party leaders. Cooperation between the CPC and PTI was also agreed upon including the latter sending its think tank teams learning from the CPC experience and model. Both sides discussed the situation in Pakistan and the expanding potential for greater Chinese investment in and assistance to Pakistan. Central Media Cell Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf 051-2270744 |
